Chapelton Steading - Speyside Self Catering Apartments

Chapelton Steading can be found just outside the delightful village of Boat of Garten in the Cairngorms National Park, approximately 5 miles(8km) from Aviemore.

Our Highland home is a tastefully converted farm steading of which one wing - a granite stone barn - has been architecturally designed to create two individual country house apartments, each offering self-catering accommodation in a quiet rural retreat.

The properties are side-by-side and entirely independent. In the photograph above, the Old Stable is the nearest apartment and the Hayloft is through the archway.

THE OLD STABLE is all on the ground level and has a large bedroom with a double and a single bed. There is a bathroom with a shower and an enlarged lounge open-plan with the kitchen. There are patio doors to the courtyard and a sheltered outdoor sitting area. Click here for more details.

THE HAYLOFT has a double bedroom (with king-sized bed) upstairs with a bathroom including shower over bath. On the ground floor there is a further bedroom with two single beds. Also downstairs is an attractive and comfortable living area with integral kitchen. There is a secluded patio with views to the hills. Click here for more details including some photos of the rooms.

Both apartments are fully equipped to a very high standard which includes dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, large flat screen digital TV with integral DVD player.

Guests can enjoy the large country garden with its colourful herbaceous borders and meandering stream in woodland surrounds. Regular wildlife visitors to the garden are red squirrels, great spotted woodpeckers, pine martin and of course the usual array of birds with occasional Capercaille in the adjoining woodlands. The magnificent views to the Cairngorm mountains are a feature, with the rural setting and surrounds all contributing to create a perfect Highland setting for those seeking a relaxing break.

There is a no-smoking policy (house and grounds) and we regret no pets. Guide dogs are welcome and the Old Stable is wheelchair accessible.

A cot, high chair and single bed guard are available at no extra charge but please mention when booking as we only have one of each.

A WIFI facility is available for those with laptops / smart phones, although given the area we live it can be very slow at times.

We have a secure workshop for the storage of cycles, golf clubs, fishing tackle, etc. This also provides a useful drying area. Even muddy mountain bikes and wet canoes are welcome!

We can provide advice on local attractions. For example, there are some superb walks / cycle rides direct from the house, including one of the most beautiful spots in Speyside about a 1/2 hour walk away on good paths - BUT not marked on any maps! See the Local Activities page for a download of a suggested walk.

We hope that you enjoy your stay. Jonathan & Helen Bellarby.
